Living with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain

For today's post, I decided to give it a bit more of a personal touch.
I have been living with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain due to Degenerative Spinal Disease and Arthritis for more than ten years. For a long time, Fibromyalgia was thought to be "all in your head," but it has only fairly recently been recognized as a legitimate disease.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain across the body, commonly accompanied by fatigue, sleep issues, and cognitive challenges (often known as "fibro fog"). It influences how the brain and spinal cord interpret pain signals, resulting in heightened pain sensitivity. Managing fibromyalgia can be difficult, but gaining an understanding of the condition and collaborating with healthcare professionals can aid in effectively controlling symptoms.
The primary and often overwhelming symptoms for me are the widespread pain, cognitive difficulties, and fatigue. It's incredibly challenging to convey to someone how you can feel exhausted after a full night's sleep, or how the pressure of your clothes can cause skin pain. Finding a job is even more difficult when any day might prove too overwhelming, making it hard even to get dressed, let alone work productively for a fixed number of hours.
The overwhelming feeling of knowing that your life will never be the same, or struggling to function on difficult days, can be intense. However, the important thing for me is to continually try new things, hoping that one of them will succeed, which is why I began this blog.
In conclusion, I hope this provides you with some understanding of what individuals with invisible illnesses might experience. Their suffering might not always be apparent, but it is certainly "not just in their head".
