When essential oils are used to promote health and well-being, it’s referred to as aromatherapy.
One theory regarding the mechanism of aromatherapy suggests that essential oils communicate with your nervous system by activating the smell receptors in your nose. Some people also believe that essential oils can influence the body's chemical and energy systems.
As a result, aromatherapy is frequently employed as a natural solution to alleviate anxiety and stress. Essential oils can be utilized for aromatherapy through topical applications and inhalation.
Supported by scientific research, Lavender is the recommended Essential Oil for those experiencing anxiety, as it can reduce blood pressure and enhance alpha wave activity in the brain, which is associated with promoting relaxation and lowering stress levels. For individuals facing anxiety, essential oils may help the body transition from “fight or flight” mode to a more relaxed state.
Some of the primary benefits include:
Calming excessive nervous system reactions
Reducing heart rate and blood pressure
Alleviating physical tension and mental unrest
Enhancing sleep quality and overall relaxation
Certain essential oils can be hazardous for children, some are unsafe for pregnant and breastfeeding individuals, and several may be toxic to pets. When relevant, seek advice from a medical professional, such as your pediatrician, OB-GYN, or veterinarian, before using them.
For today, that's all the information I'll share with you. Various Essential Oils can be used, and some may not be effective for everyone. In a future post, I'll list and provide more details on these.
